Welcome to our think!Mathematics Grade 6 Teaching Essentials, powered by [Math]odology—now designed specifically for middle school teachers! This focused two-day training is all about helping you make smart, confident decisions in your math classroom.

Across two interactive days (August 19-20, 2025), you’ll dive into lesson structure and learn how to choose which tasks should anchor exploration, and which are best reserved for practice. We’ll dig into the role each type of task plays in developing the core competencies your students need—not just for math class, but for real life.

Target Audience:

Grade 6 Teachers, Math Coaches, Math Coordinators, Teacher Leaders

Virtual Sessions:

  • Two-Day Session : August 19-20, 2025

4:00-7:00 pm EST

Workshop Format:

  • Virtual, interactive sessions
  • Small group breakouts for collaboration

  • Reflect on teaching decisions as an educator

Throughout the workshop, you’ll explore practical ways to build a classroom culture that values collaboration, reflection, and self-assessment. We’ll share strategies to embed these habits throughout your lessons, creating an environment where students learn with and from each other.

I found it very valuable to see the difference small teacher moves can make in the learning students are able to show in a lesson. We all think we are teaching the same math lessons, but it is very clear to me now that the students are experiencing math differently in each classroom. Also, the chance to pick up on the language and style Ban Har uses when teaching and talking about math is always so beneficial and helps me change my teaching for the better

Sarah and her team presented tasks that made us think. Through these tasks, administrators, teachers, and paraprofessionals engaged in the productive struggle that our students will endure each day when using this incredible resource. She continuously reminded us of the importance of helping our students remember that this uncomfortable feeling means that their brains are growing.
